Happy four year anniversary! I first listened to this album in May of 2010 while on tour in Indianapolis, IN. Needless to say, I was instantly delightfully pleased.
Before I started TDR Records, I played drums in a band called Mayfield. I can’t believe it’s been 10 years since our only full length album, I Won’t Make a Sound, came out. Together, we accomplished some great things for a local band—playing House of Blues, Metro, Fireside Bowl, Knight of Columbus in Arlington Heights, and various basements (among many other venues in Chicago and its suburbs). We shared the stage with little bands (well, back then they were little) like Fall Out Boy, Bowling For Soup, Allister, The Academy (Is…), Mae, Punchline, Spitalfield, The Hush (Sound), The Audition, Knockout, Park, June, Much The Same, The Junior Varsity, and much more. We sold just under 2,000 CDs, over 500 t-shirts, and passed out tens of thousands of CD samplers and flyers. We went on our first tour with our parents at age 17.
Even though Mayfield didn’t work out the way I dreamed of (like signing to Drive-Thru Records, touring the world, and selling millions of records) it was an incredible experience and helped get me to where I’m at today. I’m so grateful for those five years together, everyone I met around the US, and to those who supported our band and for some, my label.
